San Francisco, a Photojourney

Some of the other Microsoft interns (Nathan, Aaron, and Jesse) and I went on an Intern Adventure© today to San Francisco to check out Fisherman’s Wharf. The aquarium was actually really nice. Everyone will know what this tank is all about:
We then went into an underwater tunnel, while what seemed to be a million varieties of fish swam around us:
Apparently some kinds of starfish digest by unfolding their stomach against some sort of surface, and catching the digestees in between. In this case, the surface was the glass wall of the tunnel:
We then went on a rather sketchy boat on a cruise around the bay; under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz island. Here’s the view:
Finally, we headed to the Ghirardelli Chocolate Square and I got a decadently wonderful ice cream cone, which I captured on camera before it disappeared into my mouth (good thing I don’t digest like a starfish):
The drive back was uneventful, and when I got back to San Jose, I headed to the airport to swap out my car with Avis; the battery died a few days ago because the leads were loose and it was about a hundred years old. I wanted a Prius, but the guy couldn’t (wouldn’t?) give me a free upgrade, so I ended up going the opposite route and asking for something that I think everyone has to drive at some point:
There are a bunch of things that really annoy me about the Mustang, and I’d never buy one, but let me tell you, when you turn the key and the engine roars, you forget everything else. Driving that car is one of those simple, almost primal joys in life that comes from way back when a caveman rolled down a hill on the first wheel.
Oh yeah.
