Giving Away Mirror’s Edge

Or at least lending it for the time being to a friend. But she’s in Seattle and frankly, I’d be okay if I never got the game back. It’s not that it’s bad—everyone who enjoys games should put in a couple hours with this just to see—but it’s just not quite developed enough. Tycho over at Penny-Arcade puts it best:

They had an excellent, well-manifested game mechanic that probably wouldn’t work as a full retail product, and in the drive to shore up that “deficiency” they did violence against their creation.

But keep going with the original IP, EA. It’s not all bad.

Nokia’s “iPhone Killer”

But until they stop using that decades-old font for everything, it won’t feel nearly as good. There’s a reason that iPhone uses Helvetica freaking everywhere (the Notes app’s Marker Felt being the sole exception): it’s because it’s a good font. See for yourself.

Video: Gap’s Merry Mixit

As Julia Rubin writes in “A Gap-tastic Holiday” on Under the Button, “let’s face it, Gap knows what’s up when it comes to the holidays.” I have to agree: ever the symbol of warm, intimate cuddling by the fireside, Gap has outdone itself with its latest campaign. Julia has the rest of the videos on her post, but I’ve embedded my favorite here: Rainn Wilson and Selma Blair perform a mischievous rendition of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” with an adorable twist. Enjoy!
