Gordon Webster Album Release Party

I helped run my last Saturday Night Fish Fry this past weekend—it was a special event for Gordon Webster‘s Live in Philadelphia album release. Gordon rocked it, as usual, and I loved meeting a bunch of dancers from D.C. and Baltimore that I’ve only heard of in passing. This was definitely the best Fish Fry since the Hot Mess one over the summer.

I didn’t want to wear my dark navy suit again, so I put something together with a decidedly different feel. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out, especially since the jacket and tie were free (recently handed down from my dad). Check it out:

I was never much of a Beatles fan, so this isn’t a huge deal for me, but I love the presentation on apple.com. Flash-less (of course), clean, and simple. Also: the rat’s nest of adjectives that accompanied the iPad is thankfully missing.

Fish Fry with Baby Soda

Just wound down from running a monthly Lindy Hop event last weekend: the Saturday Night Fish Fry. We brought in the excellent Baby Soda Jazz Band from New York, and while the night was exhausting for me and my fellow organizers, the energy was high the whole time. We also finally brought to fruition a pet project of mine, which is to dress up the band area as a kitschy 90s living room. I don’t know if everyone quite “got it”, but it definitely added some warm ambiance to the venue. You can see the decor and one of the jam circles in this video that Dan Short took, below.
