Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! What am I thankful for? Friends, family, and this:
I Voted!

Anti-climactic, perhaps. I didn’t really know anything about the other positions on the ballot, so I clicked “Straight Democrat”, punched the large green VOTE button, and walked out. But there’s something about being part of what’s perhaps the most important election I’ve so far lived through that’s exhilarating. I’m extremely glad to be of voting age in 2008, and even more glad to be in college, where political activity has reached a fever pitch.
This election is not evolutionary, it’s revolutionary. We saw both Hillary and McCain scramble to adapt to Obama’s new techniques and strategies, and now, the United States’ political climate will never again be the same. Future candidates will need to have graphic designers, community managers, Twitter accounts, gorgeous websites, and Facebook groups. And all of this will draw in twenty-somethings like never before. This may be the end of (this cycle of) political apathy among America’s youth.
It may be just me, just today, but it feels like this is the real beginning of the twenty-first century. This is more like it.
Obviously.

Remember when Matt Damon said that Sarah Palin’s story was like a bad Disney movie? Well, CollegeHumor just went there. Very funny and because it’s pretty much real, very scary.
